Book Redesign

Client: University of Alberta

Date: January – March 2024

Problem: Reimagine a historical publication for contemporary audiences

Outputs: Print files, bound book prototypes

Role: Sole designer

A General History of Quadrupeds, written by Thomas Bewick in 1790, features descriptions of animals accompanied by woodblock prints. This redesign shifts the focus toward Bewick’s illustrations using a contemporary grid system, highlighting what he is best known for. The typography also draws subtle inspiration from the original publication.
